I have had my FM/Lasso website at a local hosting company for 5 years and it is time for me to look for another hosting company. Hosting is not a major part of my current hosts business, so they do not include features that are important to me.
So I wanted to ask you if moving to Point In Space would solve those issues for me.
1. We have lost power down here and the site has been down for 2 days at a time. Do you have an alternate power source? A generator of some type?
2. Hardware or software problems may require the systems to be reset or repaired, and my current folks are only in from 10-6 Mon-Fri. Are you able to respond to problems quickly?
3. Do you do regular backups?
Other features: My website is a collection of concert schedules for gospel artists around the country. I have Lasso code on each page to display events or announcements - can the server process ".htm" files through Lasso?
I predict a 2-3 month development/transition cycle. Learning Lasso 7 and using mySQL for the first time. So I will be wanting to keep the site going at my current host during that time. So my question is, how do we set up an account for development that can be "activated' in the future. Would it work using a "dev.heavensound.com", with a DNS entry pointing to your server? I suppose I could go ahead and move my e-mail accounts in the mean time.
I would also like to have access to the mySQL database using Mac OSX tools on my computer. I believe your website mentions the availability of external access.
I use a PC at work and Mac at home. Will one license of LassoStudio be sufficient for that setup?
I think I would need the 1st or 2nd level of your Lasso/mySQL service. I will not be moving any of my FM Pro files.
Thanks for bearing with me through these questions. This web site has been my "baby" for the last 5 years and I am thankful for the reputation we have maintained in our small industry. So any sort of major change to the site makes me nervous, but I know that migration needs to be done at some point. This seems to be a good time.
My website is http://www.heavensound.com
