Pierre,
Good to get the feedback on what you've already bought and tried to work with. The outdated material is one of the things that worries me more than anything. My workbook and some of my notes from my ADS training class are the same way. When I sat down to finally recreate what I had done in class, not everything seemed to match up. Add to that a VERY confusing interface with LSDW, and I am now currently lost. I fear instead of getting my site up and running quickly with Web* and Lasso by using LSDW to jump start everything, I'm going to have to go back and just learn the code from scratch, which makes that investment in LSDW and the ADS workshop just about useless.
It's very disappointing because I just don't have the luxury of time. When I first got my site up and running, using just FMPro web companion and HomePage, I was able to use the HomePage FMPro configuration wizard to build the basis of the pages, then learn from the code written and improve upon it. Instead of "learning the code" then building the pages, I was able to build the pages in order to learn more about the coding. I've found this is the best way I learn, and the way learned FMP in the first place. I dissected the templates to learn how they were created, what formatting was used, etc, then I set about creating my own.
You may want to check out the Weblets pages that Brian Dunning has on his site. If I remember correctly, these are complete FMP & Lasso solutions that you can download and use immediately. You might be able to learn from studying the code his written into those.
Good luck.
