Established TCP connection not closing
Hello all
Config is: ----- WebStar 5.3.2 Mac OSX 10.2.8 Lasso 6.0.6 ODBC Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 2 MS SQL Server 8.0
---------------------------------
We are experiencing the following problem. Looking at our active connections from netstat we are seeing a few reoccuring IP addresses are keeping a persistent open connection with WebStar over an SSL socket ie:
tcp4 0 0 securevth.virtua.https 64.119.142.162.50803 ESTABLISHED
These connections call .lasso coded pages with backend to an Microsoft SQL 2000 server. The connections between the client's browser and WebStar remain open and "ESTABLISHED" never dropping to a "FIN_WAIT" or "CLOSING" status. Interesting enough as the WebStar server's active connection increase so do the Lasso -> SQL server's active connections increase plus they never release as well.
tcp4 0 0 webstar.whatifnet.c sql.whatifnet.co.ms-sq ESTABLISHED
Of course over time the WebStar server tops out it's max connections. Has anyone on the WebStar side run traced a persistent active connection. The originating browsers are mostly IE communicating over a WatchGuard Firewall appliance. The client end-users IT staff can not find anything unusual with their setup.
For Lasso 6.0.6 -> Ms SQL via JDBC I'm assuming that the connections should open persistent and pooled. Also every Inline on a page will open it's own connection to the SQL database server. Lasso v.6 does not offer any choice in handling network tcp connections opened. However the opened tcp connects keep increasing between Lasso _ Sql as well.
TIA and my best Stoney
